A brief blurb about the 2009 hui

About forty women from across the country converged in the Waitakere bush for this year’s national anarcha-feminist hui held on Easter weekend 10-13 April at karanga camp.

It was a beautiful and invigorating space for deconstructing and re-building ourselves with lots of great workshops and discussions, yummy vegan food, and support, networking and solidarity.

Workshops included menstrual extraction; street medic; state repression; stencilling; pregnancy; shiatsu; bike maintenance and strategising, with discussion forums on queer activism; climate camp Aotearoa; patriarchy and power; white privilege; radical relationships; and sexism inherent in language.

Some of the best things that came out of it were new friendships forged, old ones re-affirmed, networks strengthened and more possibilities opened for aotearoa-wide organising and coordinated actions.
